Understanding copper alloys and their marine behaviour

Where good resistance to seawater corrosion is required, copper-based alloys have long been used, either in the form of castings, or as wrought products. Copper itself is a versatile metal with good resistance to corrosion in marine atmospheres and in seawater up to moderate flow velocities. It is easy to fabricate and can also be used for its thermal or electrical conductivity and natural high resistance to macrofouling.
