As you'll no doubt be aware, the British public, entrusted with a critical vote, recently headed to the polls, whereupon it made an ill-informed, embarrassing decision - one that has disgraced our name globally and resulted in serious social media bickering regarding the nature of democracy itself. Thankfully, though, coverage of the Boaty McBoatface saga proved to be short-lived. If this particular, juvenile cloud had one silver lining, it's surely that the forthcoming research vessel RRS Sir David Attenborough received more attention from the typically ship-deficient press than it would have without the accompanying fiasco. However, we're fairly certain the Natural Environment Research Council won't be loaning the soapbox to UK voters again anytime soon.
