Propulsion specialist Rolls-Royce is looking to enhance its modular waterjet offering, which has already proven a success with operators and shipyards. The flexibility is offered in Rolls-Royce's bigger series jets, where operators and yards can either specify delivery of the complete unit or order separate pump and inlet component parts to reflect their hull material, design and operational preferences. Rolls-Royce typically designs and manufactures the jet elements in-house -in stainless steel, marine-grade weldable aluminium or composite - and provides a complete skid-mounted delivery. Alternatively, the duplex stainless steel pump and steel, aluminium or composite inlets can be delivered as separate units, while the flexibility further extends to supplying a combination of jet and inlet drawings that enable the yard to take responsibility for inlet manufacture.
