A squeeze on design

Anew Scottish sightseeing vessel has had some rocky issues to negotiate. Some of those rocks are very real. This new 16m GRP catamaran will soon be carrying up to 88 passengers around the Scottish Hebrides, with trips to a starkly beautiful but very exposed puffin nature reserve on the uninhabited Isle of Staffa. While the departure quays at Tobermory or Fionnphort are roomy enough, the narrow entrance to Staffa's small landing sits between stony outcrops, squeezing both the channel and the design.
