The apparatus (1) has a control element for controlling the apparatus. The control element is designed in the form of a shaft (7) or a tube. A squeeze device (8) is provided for a deformable cleaning element. An actuating lever (6) actuates the squeeze device. The squeeze device is designed like a funnel such that the cleaning element is compressed during movement in the squeeze element in two directions and is wrung out. An illuminant i.e. LED, illuminates a surface to be cleaned. The cleaning element is designed in the form of a sponge, mop, broom or a microfiber cloth.
