Austal toasts Asian expansion

Just two months into the new year at time of writing, and Austal Philippines is already confident that 2019 will prove a "milestone" year for its activities. Wayne Murray, president/general manager of the Balamban, Cebu-based facility, has commented: "2019 is shaping up as our biggest and best year yet, with four major vessels already under construction and another landmark project scheduled to commence later in the year." These four vessels include: a pair of 50m high-speed catamarans, built for Taiwan-based operator Brave Line; a 49m catamaran under construction for SNC Aremiti of French Polynesia; and a 109m × 30.5m, 1,200-pax catamaran for Norway's Fjord Line - which will bear the distinction of being the largest aluminium high-speed ferry to have been built to date in the Philippines.
