There's a rising interest in extending inland navigation, even in harsh, northerly conditions, says Greg Mazerski, R&D manager at Dutch ship design house Deltamarin. Talking from his office in Gdansk, he points out that the trend isn't limited to Europe. There's a significant (and potentially larger) audience in the US and Canada, while both Russia and China also have a pressing need for extracting cargo from cold climates.
