In this paper observations made on frequency response of rectangular waveguide structure having multiple dielectric posts are highlighted. It is observed that proper choices of post parameters are essential for design of frequency response of the multi-post rectangular waveguide structure as BPF. The effects of dielectric post parameters for the design of BPF response is discussed in details in this paper. The frequency response of multi-post rectangular waveguide depends on EM scattering from array of dielectric posts and is theoretically computed from the exact geometrical configuration using image theory. Desired frequency responses of the multi-post rectangular waveguide are extracted by varying post parameters and band pass / band stop filter performance are obtained when suitable combinations of post parameters are used. The structure is theoretically analyzed and scattering of an EM plane wave from a cylindrical dielectric object is formulated using the cylindrical wave expansion, Lattice Sum and the Transition matrix (T-Matrix). Few filter configurations using different combinations of the dielectric posts are designed and frequency responses of the filters are observed using trained ANN model of the same.
