Identifying cargo hazards under the IMSBC Code

Dr Martin Jonas from Brookes Bell delivered a very informative talk on bulk cargo risks and the latest amendments to IMSBC, which was effective from 1 January 2017. Dr Jonas highlighted cargo types and knowledge issues when dealing with bulk cargoes. He reminded the audience this data was mandatory within SOLAS, which is sometimes not appreciated. Most seafarers use Appendix 1 (p57-334), the individual cargo schedules.
