A major player in the energy arena, with a catchy name that appeals to mnemonics, has laid claim in the past couple of years to being Sri Lanka's largest shipowner. Laugfs (pronounced laughs') is an acronym for Lanka Auto Gas Fuel System, the name coined when the company introduced gas as automotive fuel in 1995. It currently owns three liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tankers, and is on the lookout to shore up its fleet in the immediate future.
