Navy League Andalucia-Rota Council partnered with the Naval Station Rota, Spain, and United Services Organization Rota to conduct a National Vietnam War Veterans Day Commemoration ceremony on April 13,2021. As COVID-19 vaccinations had been previously administered to most of the base population, the council felt comfortable performing the ceremony in person. Five NJROTC cadets from the on-base David Glasgow Farragut Middle/High School made up a military color guard. They paraded the colors at the beginning of the ceremony and held them for the national anthems of Spain and the United States. Lt. Milo Curtis, chaplain, gave the invocation/benediction and Capt. David Baird, commanding officer, Naval Station Rota, gave the welcome and opening remarks to honor U.S. military veterans who served during the Vietnam era and to reflect the nation's thanks for their service and sacrifice.
