North New Jersey Council Sponsors Cutter Cruise for Special Needs Kids

The North New Jersey Council provided special needs students from Pathways for Exceptional Children in Montville, N.J., the chance to experience what it's like to sail aboard a U.S. Coast Guard cutter. A group of nine children, their chaperones and several council members were taken on a three-hour cruise around New York Harbor on the U.S. Coast Cutter Penobscot Bay, one of council's adopted ships, according to council Treasurer Angelo Scalo, who coordinated the trip with council Vice President of Administration Lee Shickel. Penobscot Bay, a Bay-class small icebreaker, is homeported in Bayonne, N.J.
