Several years ago, Canada's Senate Committee on National Security and Defence heard testimony in private about "ghost cans" - undeclared shipping containers that are off-loaded and driven away to destinations unknown - slipping into the country through its ports.rnNo one knows what is in the containers. And the Canada Border Services guards who told the senators about the mystery sea containers acknowledged they did not have enough personnel to do anything about them.rnIt is estimated that each ship arriving into a Canadian port could have as many as a half-dozen "ghost cans," said Liberal Party Sen. Colin Kenny, chairman of the National Security and Defence Committee.rnThe problem continues to this day and, according to Kenny, the security of Canada's ports has only gotten worse since the committee first heard testimony from the border guards.
