With the Deepwater Horizon well finally capped, oil spill responders are beginning to look at a long-term recovery issues and ensuring BP maintains its commitment to clean up the Gulf of Mexico.rn1. Open-water skimming operations stopped, for the most part, in early August because there was no recoverable surface oil off shore.rn2. The main focus now for the Coast Guard is on cleaning up the beaches and marshland along the Gulf Coast.rn3. The Coast Guard still has more than 2,200 personnel in the area, most of whom are Reservists.
