I flew to the New York area on Oct. 31 and, upon arrival, I was sent down to the Motiva Enterprises LLC Sewaren, N.J., oil refinery [that was damaged by Hurricane Sandy], because they had a discharge of an undisclosed amount of diesel fuel. [Motiva authorities said the terminal leaked out 378,000 gallons of diesel fuel], so we were sent down there to asses and oversee the cleanup of the diesel. Motiva already had a command structure set up, so they plugged my team into that structure and we would go out on a daily basis and test each area that was affected by the oil.
