JAXA Propels Recovery of Trust with Series of Successful Rocket Launches

From both the same launch site in Tanegashima Launchsite, the H-IIA F8 carried the earth observation satellite ALOS (nicknamed "DAICHI") into orbit on Jan. 24, while the M-V-8 carried the mullipurpose transport satellite MTSAT-2 (nicknamed "HIMAWARI-7") on Feb. 18. Furthermore, the M-V-8 was used to launch from the Uchinoura site the infrared astronomical observation satellite ASTRO-F (nicknamed "AKARI") on Feb. 22. All three launches saw the successful separation and placement into orbit of the respective satellite.
