Closely related to Japan's Next Generation Network (NGN) promotion efforts, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) held, for the first time in Asia despite the long history thereof, its Telecom World confab. The week-long meeting saw many participants involved in information communications technology (ICT) converge at the new exposition center which had been opened near Hong Kong Airport, the Asia World-Expo Exposition Centre.
