Final Disposal of Industrial Waste Down 85% From FY 1990 To Fy 2006

In 1997 Nippon Keidanren opted for a Voluntary Action Plan on the Environment that dealt with waste disposal policy in order to promote voluntary measures in the industrial world. The plan was based on the recognition during the 1990s of illegal dumping as a social problem and the impending crunch in final disposal sites. The results have been remarkable with an 80% drop in the amounts of industrial waste sent for final disposal compared to the figures for FY 1990.
