Shift to a new economy?

During the past two decades research studies looking at the future of resources have shown a decline in availability in areas such as water and energy. Consequently, Lester Brown wrote Plan 2.0: Rescuing a Planet under Stress and a Civilization in Trouble (W W Norton, 2006) which indicated that the potential for expansion of resources, such as oil production, was far less than projected. Since the publication of Plan 2.0 research has shown that expansion is no longer feasible because we have now reached our peak and are in a state of decline.
