Landau is one of the most popular scientists. He is very well known among physicists globally. He is popularly known for a series of text books that he wrote with his close colleague E.M. Lifshitz. Lifshitz visited Banaras Hindu University and he was impressed by the campus. We took him to the temple on the campus and he was highly impressed by its grandeur, lawns and the cleanliness around but he enquired whether Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya himself thought of this Temple on the campus or it was after thought of his family members and well wishers. This question itself conveyed many related indepth quarries that are being realized these days whenever we pass through the Temple gate. About Landau, he narrated many incidences. Lifshitz rated Landau to be the most popular and talented scientist among all the Russian scientists of that age.
