Culture and Conservation: Case Study of A Sacred Grove

摘要

Tree clusters protected on socio-cultural grounds are known as sacred groves. This paper highlights how socio-religious rituals of Santhals of West Midnapore district help preserve bio-diversity on the one hand and shape cultural identity and tribal solidarity on the other.
