The Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London, world's oldest, continuing scientific journal, first appeared on March 06, 1665 under the visionary editorship of Heinrich (Henry) Oldenburg, the first Secretary of the Royal Society. It was started with the stated aim of "promoting natural knowledge" among scientists. Numerous eminent scientists like Sir Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, James Clerk Maxwell, Michael Faraday, Robert Boyle, Benzamin Franklin, Humphrey Davy, Henry Cavendish, James Watson, Francis Crick, Alexander Fleming and Dorothy Hodgkin contributed articles in the Transactions.
