摘要

The morphologic changes in wool fibers and the breakdown characteristics of wool fabrics abraded by several laboratory machines have been studied extensively. However, there are no detailed reports on the relationship between the assessment of the abrasion resistance in wool carpets and the changes in wool fiber morphology in carpets during wear and abrasion-testing. In this work, the damages to wool fiber in textile floorcoverings, obtained from the specimens abraded by using a WIRA abrasion tester, and the morphologic changes in wool fiber caused by the floor trial were observed by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the wear and abrasion-resistance performances were assessed by loss in carpet thickness.
