This book discusses what has become known as the experience economy-a concept introduced by Joseph Pine and James Gilmore in "The Experience Economy: Work is Theatre & Every Business a Stage" (1999, 254 pp.). The contributors to the present book pay particular attention to the experience economy in connection with entrepreneurship, elaborating upon an intertwining relation between these two concepts in a variety of examples. They also note the shift from a managerial to an entrepreneurial economy, seeking to explain why this has been happening and presenting some nicely illustrated empirical cases. The authors also describe those who work in the experience economy as being focused, committed and full of passion for what they are doing. The cases demonstrate that the experience economy and entrepreneurship are both to be found in any sector or any domain, and may arise in any situation where a creative approach, passion and commitment prevail.
