Organizing Democracy. The Construction of Agency in Practice

Democracy as a specific way of structuring and managing stakeholder relationships in society may seem straightforward, being based on core values such as accountability, inclusion, representation and transparency. But the governance of democracy may actually weaken democracy, according to some governance scholars. This is since governance shifts power from government to self-organising networks. In the expanding field of governance research, this issue is investigated in relation to policy development processes in a new research anthology, Organizing Democracy. The Construction of Agency in Practice. The volume was edited by Goran Sundstrom, Linda Soneryd and Staffan Furusten, all researchers at the Stockholm Centre for Organizational Research (SCORE), a research centre mainly studying public sector organising.
