In the (possibly-misattributed) words of the Greek Philosopher Heraclitus of Ephesus; everything changes, and nothing stands still. These ancient words of wisdom are especially notable in the year that the human race launched its first 'star' into orbit. The Humanity Star, a unique satellite now in orbit around the Earth, was secretly launched on 21 January alongside three commercial satellites by Rocket Lab's Electron launch vehicle. A small geodesic sphere around one metre in diameter and constructed from carbon fibre, the Humanity Star spins rapidly in orbit to create a flashing light of the sun's rays reflected from its 65 highly reflective panels. Orbiting the Earth every 90 minutes, and visible from anywhere on the globe with the naked eye, the Humanity Star is designed to be 'a bright symbol and reminder to all on Earth about our fragile place in the universe.'
