Ingenics needed such a project itself: An analysis in mid-2003 indicated potential for improvement in its administrative processes. The tools, processes, and methods used successfully in the past could not keep pace with the company's growth. A lack of transparency, numerous interfaces, integration gaps, and redundant data storage created a complex situation that new employees found difficult to grasp. The mostly manual tasks increased the possibility of error because the system did not support the processes adequately.
