摘要

Ethnic and cultural diversity is the "new reality" in the United States. The economy is now truly global and ever more diverse, but employers can benefit from this diversity by having a diverse labor force. Diversity enables the employer to retain talented and knowledgeable people from all segments of the U.S. population as well as the world. Diversity in employment also will allow the employer to relate well to a diverse customer base. Furthermore, greater awareness of the diversity of employees and applicants and showing greater respect for the employee's cultures, will benefit the employer and its stakeholders by achieving a more tolerant and harmonious workplace and one that is accordingly more efficient, effective, and productive.
