Many shipowners are still confused over the new legislation that requires "one for one" issue of a SOLAS-approved immersion suit for every crew member onboard any commercial or cargo vessel by this summer operating in cold water. "We have found there has been, and still is, considerable confusion and uncertainty in the market place around the world," says Jane Goodwin-Hale, managing director of Mullion Manufacturing. "Some shipowners have even 'understood' that once they buy the full quota of immersion suits they can throw all their lifejackets away!"
