Dr Heike Hopper has always had arnclose affiliation with the sea. Before beginning a successful career - she's now "in charge" of IMO's Sub-Committee on Ship Design and Equipment, she grew up in Germany near the Baltic Sea. Most of the men in her family "have been seafarers for generations," Hopper tells SASI.rnAfter studying marine engineering at the University of Rostock she worked for the German maritime administration, then came to London.
