Teaching the navigation basics

In the view of UK-based Witherby Seamanship International, there has been a need for an up-to-date textbook covering all aspects of navigation and watchkeeping required for the STCW 95 OOW certificate. Now, to fill the gap it identified, the company has just published Nav Basics. The new publication goes beyond thernusual textbook, however, for Nav Basics is a boxed set of three books, plus a nautical almanac, a practice chart and a radar-plotting sheet. The author, Abdul Khalique, is a senior lecturer at Britain's Warsash Maritime Academy, and has brought together items that are usually taught in tandem. The overall aim of this arrangement is to ensure thatrnthe textbook flows in a logical manner.
