A model move

After more than two decades of operation at Marchwood, the UK's Warsash Maritime Academy - a faculty of Southampton Solent University - is moving its manned model training to a reservoir at Timsbury, in Hampshire. The facility is one of very few training centres worldwide that conduct manned model training. Warsash marketing manager Nigel Holloway told SASI that the importance of such training should not be overlooked: "When it comes to practical shiphandling there is no substitute for the real hands-on training that manned models provide, in things such as canal transits, shallow water effects, ship interaction and berthing operations."
