A Super Puma helicopter carrying out an offshore transfer crashed in the North Sea on 2 April, killing all on board. The helicopter was ferrying 16 workers from the Miiler oil platform in BP's Brent field when it came down 15nm off Peterhead.rnAn initial investigation by the UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) found that the aircraft suffered a "catastrophic failure" in its main gearbox, although the complete accident sequence was not resolved as SASI went to press.
