A pioneering study into the causes of seafarer fatigue - part-funded by the EU and backed by a group of leading European companies and associations - is due to start on 1 May. Called Project Horizon, the 30-month project will cost €3.7M ($4.6M) -$3.3M of it from an EU grant -and will be based on similar research in the aviation industry. Although several studies have been made into fatigue, this will be the first on the subject to look into the global shipping industry.
