Vast improvements have been made inrnthe regulatory supervision of hazardous cargo carried in containers in recent years and this has had a significant effect in improving the safety of seafarers. Ships' computers are now able to flag any problems in cargo separation from other types of hazardous substances, or identify containers that are not being stowed in the correct positions on or under deck.
