USA vulnerable to Arctic spill

In the event of an Arctic oil spill or grounding, no crisis assets are available to be mustered in response, the US Coast Guard warned Congress in July. Even as oil majors such as Shell prepare to resume offshore oil exploration off Alaska's North Slope, "zero" assets could respond if oil is spilled, USCG's commandant, Admiral Robert Papp, told the Senate Commerce Committee on 27 July.
