France set to launch Channel tug takeover

France is to take sole responsibility for stationing an emergency tug in the Dover Strait section of the English Channel, it emerged in June. Following the UK government's decision to end the standby role performed there by the jointly funded 1,308dwt emergency towing vessel (ETV) Anglian Monarch, France has decided to replace it by positioning one of its own rescue and assistance tugs from September.
