When it comes to embracing new technology, the maritime industry has often been accused of lagging behind its transport sector counterparts.Learning management systems (LMSs) are integral to many businesses across the world as a means of delivering training. Canadian educational technologist Murray Goldberg has estimated the total worth of the LMS market at $ 1 Bn, 15 years after the concept first emerged. In 2010 Goldberg started to bring LMSs to the maritime sector through his company Marine Learning Systems (MLS). Goldberg believes that his software product, MarineLMS, is the first learning management system to be dedicated to the maritime industry.
