Intermanager is pushing ahead with its drive to encourage the industry to take better care of its seafarers. Last year, the ship-management association introduced a series of key performance indicators (KPIs) that it hopes its membership will sign up to. Members have already signed up to a code of conduct, and the KPIs have been in discussion for some time, Intermanager secretary general Kuba Szymanski informed Safety at Sea. Since the system was launched in June, 37 companies with almost 1,000 vessels have provided performance indicators, which allow KPIs and shipping performance indices (SPIs) to be calculated. Intermanager has also enjoyed increasing interest from company vetting departments and P&l clubs.
