Seven saved from Biscay sinking

Seven seafarers were saved after their vessel began to sink in the Bay of Biscay on 9 December. The 3,048dwt general cargo vessel Florece capsized in 4,700m of water after the collision with 53,082dwt products tanker Afrodite 280nm from the coast of Brittany, France, at 03.30. Florece's seven crew members took to liferafts, but Afrodite's efforts to send its fast rescue craft to assist them were thwarted by rough seas. Finally, the 8,034dwt heavy-lift vessel Ocean Titan came to their rescue.
