It should be easier to make multiple calls from a vessel, and monitor that vessel's movements - whether it is delivering cargo or is under pirate control - thanks to recent service enhancements from Inmarsat. The company's FleetBroadband Multi-Voice Service (MVS) and FleetBroadband Dynamic Telemetry Service (DTS) are said to help make increasingly central aspects of ship operation easier, and they will be available in FleetBroadband terminals from manufacturer Thrane & Thrane in Ql and Q2 of this year. MVS allows for up to nine simultaneous voice lines on a Thrane & Thrane Sailor 500 and 250 FleetBroadband terminal. A Sailor 150 FleetBroadband terminal can offer up to four concurrent calls. All will have their own FleetBroadband number, and the new functionality will be available on existing Sailor FleetBroadband terminals via a firmware upgrade and will be fully functional in all-new terminals.
