French ferry operator SNCM was forced to test the stability of its ro-pax Napoleon Bonaparte, which was damaged in winds of up to 130km/h. The ship broke its moorings and collided with a quay in Marseille during a storm early on 28 October. No injuries were reported. A breach in its hull led to the flooding of two watertight compartments and part of its engine area. The company said the ro-pax was leaning against the quay but its keel seemed to be resting on the seabed. If it proves stable, divers will patch its hull so water can be pumped.
