Marine pilots to train in India

BMT Group and Bibby Line Group both believe that India requires a talent pool for marine pilots. So BMT Consultants India (BMT), Indian subsidiary of the leading international maritime design, engineering, and risk management consultancy, has joined hands with Bibby Ship Management, a part of the Liverpool-headquartered Bibby Line Group, to provide marine pilot training in India. Suren Vakil, managing director of BMT Consultants India, told IHS Maritime: "The essence of the partnership is to provide high-quality training using Rembrandt and state-of-the-art facilities using experienced trainers. We will provide excellent training, value for money and flexibility with training either at the centre, or at the client's premises." In India, BMT has provided specific training and workshops for Adani and Shell pilots at Hazira Port as well as pilots at Mundra Port. "Mundra pilots recently came to BMT for support when they wanted to bring in the biggest container vessel to have berthed at any Indian port. I look forward to a successful partnership where we make our mark in helping to improve the safety of ports in the Indian subcontinent and elsewhere in the region," said Suren Vakil.
