Port2Port manager talks on Nigeria risk

Andrew Varney, managing director of maritime security firm Port2Port, has said that Nigeria's confusing security jurisdictions present a serious risk to certificated ship security operations. His comments followed the seizing of his senior British security guards Vincent Haywood and Piers Eastwood by the Niger Delta's Joint Task Force (JTF) on 21 March as they waited to provide security to 40,S53dwt Liberia-flag crude oil tanker Crete. Because of the incident, the ship had to sail without its cargo.
