Security standard for IMO imminent

An internationally viable standard to regulate maritime security companies is scheduled to be introduced to the IMO later this year. Speaking to delegates at the SAMI security standards seminar on 30 January, Robin Townsend, project leader (ISO 28007 Private Marine Security Companies) at Lloyds Register, said the final results of the UK Accreditation Service's pilot of the ISO 28007 standard for private maritime security companies were imminent.
