Poor watchkeeping caused collision, says MAIB

An investigation by the United Kingdom's Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) has concluded that a collision between a general cargo ship and an oil bunker barge that occurred off the east coast of Scotland in August 2015 was a result of inattentive watchkeeping. Daroja, a Cypriot-registered general cargo ship, was making way from Aberdeen to the Shetland Islands when it collided with Erin Wood, a St Kitts and Nevis-registered oil bunker barge sailing from North Shields in England to Scrabster, Scotland, at 16∶58 on 29 August 2015.
