摘要

Lifting equipment company Vulcan Group and two of its employees were in court on 1 March after an electrician received a potentially fatal electric shock across his chest. Leeds magistrates heard that Kevin Brennan, an experienced electrician, had been working at the Leeds site of concrete block-maker Stocks Brothers on 6 June 2004, after Vulcan had been called in to replace a large conveyor belt to a hopper. The work entailed vulcanising the belt to melt the two ends together, an operation that requires a three-phase electricity supply. A welder directed two fitters from Vulcan - Simon Priestley and Ian Featherstone, who arrived to carry out the replacement work - to what he thought was a three-phase supply but was, in fact, a 60-amp socket.
