The construction of submarines, more than just about any other industry, requires stringent application of safety procedures for working in confined spaces. Consequently, BAE Systems Submarines in Barrow has entered into a partnership with the HSE that is enabling it to set new standards for its shipbuilding operations nationwide. The company's health, safety and environment manager, Ian Worrall, explains the benefits it has brought to the whole organisation.
