Stockton-on-Tees mineral products manufacturer Minelco Specialities has been fined £5000 after an employee sustained severe injuries when he fell on to a moving conveyor belt. Teesside magistrates were told that on 10 January this year, a charge hand had been working in the mill area of the firm's premises on an industrial estate in Stockton, where a conveyor belt carrying industrial talc stood above a two-metre pit.
