Study shows H&S impact of supply chains

Construction and shipping supply chains can have a positive effect on health and safety management in high-profile organisations and projects, research has found. The research, which IOSH commissioned with Cardiff University, used two construction and two seafaring case studies to explore what positive effects their supply chains had on health and safety management. It found the construction companies were influenced by the demands of their clients to ensure good health and safety practice among their own contractors and subcontractors. In the shipping case studies, tanker companies were strongly influenced by pressures from oil companies to ensure good standards of health and safety management onboard their ships.
